EVANSVILLE – After taking a week off from game action, the University of Evansville women's basketball team will continue its three-game homestand on Monday as the Purple Aces will play host to Ball State at the Ford Center at 7 p.m.
"It was good for us to get this week break, but I wouldn't say that it was a layoff because we used it to put a lot of work in on the practice court," UE head coach Oties Epps said. "We're going to try to play better defensively and be more assertive on offense. It's been a good week of preparation, and hopefully that will show when we step out on the court tomorrow."

UE is 1-8 on the season, and the team is looking to snap a six-game losing streak.
While junior Sara Dickey's stellar Aces career has continued into this season, the search for scoring consistency behind her has proven more challenging. Camille Coleman, a freshman out of South Bend, has carried some of that load, and she enters Monday's contest averaging over eight points per game. Kerri Gasper has been similarly effective, both as a starter and off the bench, but it's Ashley Hawkins who is coming off an impressive 10-point, 8 rebound outburst against UT Martin last weekend.
Meanwhile, Dickey, who currently ranks ninth in UE history with 1,285 points, has scored double-digit points in all but two games this season. The Montezuma, Ind., native is averaging 15.2 for the season, and she's drained 21 three pointers on the year as well, 10 more than any other Aces player.
Ball State, which is 6-3, will be aiming to bounce back from a 73-63 loss at Purdue last weekend. The loss ended a four-game winning streak for the Cardinals that included wins over Massachusetts, Ohio Valley, Butler and Lipscomb.
The Cards are led on the year by Nathalie Fontaine, who is averaging 21.4 points per game this season, and the duo of Moriah Monaco and Jill Morrison has provided ample help alongside her as each chip in over 12 points per game.
Tipoff at the Ford Center is slated for 7 p.m.
NOTES: UE is 7-7 all-time against Ball State … The Aces and Cardinals have met in each of the past eight seasons and in 10 of the last 11 … The first game in the series was in 1984, a 62-58 BSU win in Evansville … Ashley Hawkins' eight rebounds in last week's game against UT Martin tied her career high … The Aces will be playing Monday at the Ford Center for just the third time this season.
