Evansville, IN – The University of Evansville Women's softball team (3-10, 0-0 MVC) heads to Macon, GA this weekend to participate in the Black and Orange Challenge at Mercer University. The Aces are slated to see action against Kennesaw State, Buffalo, and host Mercer. Evansville is coming off a weekend in Troy, AL where they finished 1-3 on the weekend.
The Aces are led by stand out sophomore Chandra Parr who so far this season has 14 hits in 37 at bats putting her average at a team leading .378. Parr currently also has 2 doubles, 3 homeruns, 4 RBIs, 7 walks, 12 runs, accounting for 25 total bases so far this season.
The Aces are led on the mound by junior left hander Amanda Blankenship. Blankenship has endured a majority of the time on the mound so far this season. Blankenship currently has a record of 2-8 while pitching a total of 63.1 innings so far this season. Blankenship has a 4.86 ERA and has struck out a total of 31 batters at this point in the season.
First up for the Aces will be Kennesaw State on Friday at 1:15 p.m. ET. Kennesaw State was able to get the best of the Aces last weekend when they won 7-4 at the Troy Invitational. The Owls are currently 6-4 on the season. At 5:45 p.m. ET later that night the Aces will take on host Mercer. Mercer is currently 7-8 on the season. On Saturday the Aces will get started at 10:00 a.m. ET against Buffalo. The Bulls are currently 3-7 on the season.
The rest of the weekend will be dependent on how teams perform through their first four games to determine seeding. The Aces will play again on Saturday and again on Sunday.
