MVC Announces UE/Illinois State to be televised on MVC TV Network

2/9/2015 12:42:00 PM

ST. LOUIS - The Missouri Valley Conference announced today that the MVC TV Network has selected the Illinois State at Evansville men's basketball game for distribution on FOX Sports Midwest, FOX Sports Indiana, FOX Sports Kansas City, Comcast SportsNet Chicago and ESPN3 on Saturday, February 28.

On February 28, Illinois State (15-9 overall and 7-5 in MVC play) will travel to Evansville (16-8 and 6-6) for a 1 p.m. Central game at Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.

Illinois State took the first meeting between the two schools on Tuesday, February 3, when Reggie Lynch tied a career-high with 16 points and blocked five shots to help ISU to a 77-51 triumph at Redbird Arena in Normal, Illinois.

That game will be a part of double-header of league men's basketball action on the MVC's regular-season finale Saturday, as 14th-ranked Northern Iowa will visit 16th-ranked Wichita State in a game that will be shown on either ESPN or ESPN2.  Network and start time will be determined at a future date.

The selection of the Illinois State at Evansville telecast marks the tenth-straight year that the league has used a "Wildcard" process to determine the final regular-season men's basketball telecast for the MVC TV Network.  The Illinois State-Evansville telecast will also be available on the WatchESPN App, subject to blackout restrictions.

Using the Wildcard Weekend model, the Missouri Valley Conference -- through its television partners ESPN, FOX Sports Midwest and Comcast SportsNet Chicago -- reserves clearance windows for late February and March dates in the fall of each academic year and waits until the midpoint of the men's and women's basketball seasons to determine its final regular-season telecasts.
