Aces Softball Goes to Extras But Loses to Buffalo 14-13

The University of Evansville Women's Softball team wrapped up the Black and Orange Challenge at Mercer University on Sunday morning against Buffalo.  The Aces went toe to toe with the Bulls but ended up taking the loss in 8 innings by a score of 13-14.  The Aces finished the tournament with a record of 1-3.
 
Evansville got things going early when they jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first.  Chandra Parr scored when Michal Luckett reached on an error.  Hayli Scott then scored when Mariah Ferguson reached off an error as well.  Buffalo grabbed a run of their own in the top of the third.  The Aces were able to grab two more runs in the bottom of the third making the score 4-1.  Evansville added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth when Courtney Land doubled to left center and then stole third base.  Chandra Parr was then able to single through the left side scoring Land.  Parr made her way to third and was then able to score when Mickaela Fleming singled up the middle making the score 6-1.  The Bulls then took the lead when they scored three runs a piece in both the top of the fifth and sixth innings.  Evansville responded in the bottom of the fifth with five runs of their own.  Mickaela Fleming was able to score Abbi Fahse off her single through the left side.  Michal Luckett then scored Samantha Fleming off a single up the middle.  Mariah Ferguson then doubled down the left field line scoring Mickaela Fleming and putting Luckett on third.  Susan Norris was then able to get a single up the middle scoring both Luckett and Ferguson making the score 11-7.  Buffalo responded though with a six run inning in the top of the seventh making the score 13-11 in favor of the Bulls.  Chandra Parr drew a walk to start the bottom of the seventh and Abbi Fahse followed that with a two run home run to tie the game at 13-13 and send it to extra innings.  Buffalo grabbed a run in the top of the eighth and the Aces were not able to respond in the bottom half of the inning.  The final score was 14-13 in favor of Buffalo.
 
The Aces will be back in action next weekend when they head to Stillwater, OK for the Oklahoma State Tournament.  The Aces will see the likes of University of Missouri-Kansas City, Oklahoma State, and Connecticut.  The Aces will see their first home action on March 14th when they take on conference opponent Loyola.
