Evansville, IN –The University of Evansville Women's Softball team will take on the Loyola Ramblers this weekend for their first conference action of the season. The series was originally supposed to take place in Evansville but due to current field conditions and impending weather the games will now take place in Rosemont, IL at the Chicago Bandits Stadium. The Aces will play the first game on Saturday at 7 p.m. and will then finish up with a double header on Sunday at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
The Aces are coming off a weekend in Stillwater, OK where they participated in the Mizuno Classic. The Aces were able to go 2-3 on the weekend which included a win over the University of Missouri-Kansas City by a score of 3-2 and a win to wrap up the tournament over UCONN by a score of 5-2.
The Aces are led by stand out sophomore Chandra Parr who so far this season has 24 hits in 71 at bats putting her average at .338. Parr currently also has 6 doubles, 4 homeruns, 9 RBIs, 10 walks, 22 runs, accounting for 42 total bases so far this season. On the mound the Aces are led by junior left hander Amanda Blankenship. Blankenship has endured a majority of the time on the mound so far this season. Blankenship currently has a record of 5-12 while pitching a total of 108.2 innings so far this season. Blankenship has a 5.02 ERA and has struck out a total of 59 batters at this point in the season.
Loyola is currently 8-12 on the season. They are coming off a weekend in Charleston, S.C. where they took part in the Holy City Showdown. The Rambler finished 2-3 on the weekend and where able to grab victories on South Carolina State and College of Charleston.
The Aces next home action will be on March 28
th and 29
th when they take on the Redbirds of Illinois State.
