Rosemont, IL–The University of Evansville Softball Team (6-18, 0-1 MVC) headed to Chicago on Saturday to open conference play against the Loyola Ramblers. The series was supposed to have taken place at Cooper Stadium in Evansville but due to inclement weather and field conditions the series had to be moved to Rosemont, IL. The series is being played at the Ballpark home of the Chicago Bandits professional softball team. Loyola was able to take the series opener by a score of 16-5 in five innings.

Loyola jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Michal Luckett was able to score for the Aces in the bottom of the second off of a single from Danielle Freeman making the score 3-1 heading into the second. The Ramblers were able to extend their lead in the top second to 5-1 off a couple of singles from Brooke Wyderski and Jamie O'Brien. The Ramblers again added to their lead with one run in the third and nine in the fourth. The Ramblers entered the bottom of the fourth with a 15-1 lead.Â

In the bottom of the fourth Hayli Scott scored a run for the Aces when Morgan Lambert was able to draw a walk. Ashlee Kawall then singled through the left side scoring Mickaela Fleming. Susan Norris was able to grab the third run of the inning off of a fielder's choice by Chandra Parr making the score 15-4. Hannah Jenkins of Loyola had a solo homerun in the top of the fifth making the score 16-4 in favor of the Ramblers.  Freeman responded with a homerun of her own in the bottom of the fifth making the score 16-5. The game was called after five innings.

The Aces and the Ramblers will be in action again tomorrow for a double header. First pitch of game one is set for 12:00 p.m. CT and game two will start at 2:00 p.m. CT. The Aces next home action will be on March 28
th and 29
th when they take on Illinois State.
