Aces Softball Splits Double Header Against Loyola

The University of Evansville Softball team (7-19, 1-2 MVC) finished up their series on Sunday against Loyola.  After losing on Saturday night 16-5, the Aces split the two games against the Ramblers on Sunday losing the first game 10-1 and winning the second game off a Danielle Freeman walk off single 3-2.
 
In game one, Loyola jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead when Jessica Belzano scored on a passed ball.  The Ramblers added to their lead when Katy LaCivita singled down the left field line scoring Jamie O'Brien making the score 2-0.  The Ramblers got hot again in the top of the fourth.  Hannah Jenkins was able to score off a single to the shortstop by Jacquelyn Murphy.  Brooke Wyderski doubled scoring both Erica Nagel and Annie Korth making the score 5-0 in favor of the Ramblers.  They then extended their lead to 7-0 when Jamie O'Brien doubled scoring Ashley Parenti and Wyderski.
 
In the top of the fifth, Korth again scored for the Ramblers off of a single to center by Jacquelyn Murphy extending the lead to 8-0.  In the bottom of the fifth, the Aces finally were able to get some offense going when Haylee Tracy was able to score off a Chandra Parr triple to right center making the score 8-1.  In the top of the sixth, the Ramblers grabbed another two runs extending their lead to 10-1 which would be the final score of the game.
 
In the second game, the Ramblers jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Wyderski scored off an error.  In the bottom of the second, Mariah Ferguson was able to score for the Aces off of a fielder's choice by Haylee Tracy tying the score at 1-1.  The tie was finally broken in the top of the sixth when Wyderski reached on an error scoring Tarran Shaffer making the score 2-1 in favor of the Ramblers.  In the bottom of the seventh, with Haylee Tracy and Ashlee Kawall on base, Danielle Freeman singled up the middle scoring both Tracy and Kawall giving the Aces the 3-2 victory.
 
The Aces will be back in action on Wednesday March 18th when they head to UT Martin to take on the Skyhawks.  They will play a double header with the first game starting at 3:00 p.m. CDT and the second game starting at 5:00 p.m. CDT.  The Aces will see their next home action on March 28th and 29th when they take on Illinois State.
