UE Women’s Basketball Draws Missouri St. in MVC Semifinals

ST. CHARLES, Mo. –
The 7th seeded University of Evansville women's basketball team (13-18, 6-12) will play the 3rd seeded Missouri State Lady Bears on Saturday, March 14 in the MVC Tournament Semifinals at the Family Arena. Tip is set for 4:07 p.m. CDT.
 
The Purple Aces set a program and Missouri Valley Conference Tournament record with 17 made three-pointers in an 84-79 overtime victory against the #2 Drake Bulldogs in the MVC Quarterfinals on Friday night.
 
Guard Khristian Hart scored a career-high 29 points in the victory, the second in as many days for the Aces. Forward Mallory Ladd added 22 points and seven rebounds for UE. Guard Sara Dickey also set the single-season scoring record with her first made field goal of the game, passing Shyla Puelston for most in school history. Dickey now has 582 points.
 
On the stat sheet, Dickey (18.8 points per game), Ladd (15.1) and Hart (10.5) all average double figures. Dickey has the most assists (72) as Hart has totaled a team-best with 51 steals for UE this year. Ladd is notching a team-high 0.9 blocks per game. Forward Sasha Robinson is securing 7.8 rebounds per game, a team-high. UE is averaging 62.7 points and 32.3 rebounds per game. The Aces make 39.4% of their field goals, 35.7% of threes, and 66.9% at the free throw line.
 
Missouri State (17-13, 13-5) defeated #6 Indiana State 75-57 on Friday night in the MVC Quarterfinals. Guard Tyonna Snow recorded a season-high 26 points in the win as the Lady Bears ended the game on a 25-9 run.
 
Statistically, Missouri State also has three players averaging double figure points per game (Kenzie Williams 15.6, Snow 13.5, guard Liza Fruendt 10.4). Forward Hillary Chvatal leads all Lady Bears with 7.9 rebounds per game and 23 total blocks. Missouri State is averaging 67.0 points and 40.3 rebounds per game. The Lady Bears net 38.9% of their shots, 32.7% from beyond the arc and 68.6% from the charity stripe.  
 
Evansville is projected to finish fourth in the MVC preseason poll, their highest projection since 2008-2009. Dickey was also named to the preseason All-Conference team. The Aces are guided by fourth year head coach Oties Epps.
 
Missouri State was slated to finish sixth in the MVC preseason poll. The Lady Bears did not have anyone named to the preseason all-Conference team. Missouri State is led by second year head coach Kellie Harper.
 
The Lady Bears hold a 33-12 edge in the all-time series against UE. The Aces won 65-56 at Missouri State on January 2. The victory marked the first win for Evansville at JQH Arena and second UE win in Springfield, Missouri. The Lady Bears were victorious in the last meeting 86-71 at the Ford Center on March 7.
