EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Wednesday's opening round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament will feature the University of Evansville men's basketball team taking on IPFW with tip set for 7 p.m.

The meeting in the CIT will mark the first between the Purple Aces and Mastadons.
Evansville enters the tournament with a record of 19-12 after posting its best regular season of the 21
st century. The Aces were well-represented on the Missouri Valley Conference postseason teams, led by D.J. Balentine and Egidijus Mockevicius, who were First Team All-Conference. It marked the first time in 26 years that the program placed two on the first team.
Mockevicius also added his second-straight All-Defensive Team berth. Mislav Brzoja garnered a spot on the All-Bench Team while Blake Simmons was named to the Scholar Athlete First Team.
IPFW makes its first trip to Evansville with a 16-14 record and a 9-7 season in the Summit League. The Mastadons came on strong as the season wore down, winning 8 of the final 10 games of the regular season before falling to South Dakota in the first game of the conference tournament. At one point, they won seven in a row from Jan. 24 through Feb. 19.
Three players finished the season in double figures for IPFW, led by Steve Forbes. He posted 13.9 points per game along with a team-best 6.1 rebounds. Joe Edwards was next up with 11.9 PPG.
