Box Score 1
Box Score 2

Evansville, IN–
The University of Evansville Women's Softball Team (7-25, 1-6 MVC) got to see their first home action on Saturday afternoon.  The Aces took on the Redbirds of Illinois State in a double header.  The Redbirds took both games winning game one by a score of 14-5.  Game two was settled by a score of 9-1 in six innings.

In game one Evansville jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead when Danielle Freeman hit a two run home run in the bottom of the first.  The Redbirds responded in the top of the third with two runs of their own off a Jordan de los Reyes home run.  Evansville responded in the bottom half of the inning when they picked three more runs off a Mariah Ferguson homer.  Unfortunately, that would be all the scoring for the Aces.  Illinois State scored three runs in both the fourth and fifth inning, one in the sixth, and five in the seventh to secure the 14-5 victory.

Illinois State got things going quickly in game two with two runs in the top of the first off of a de los Reyes sacrifice fly and a single by Riley Strandgard.  In the top of the second, Abby Turczyn scored off a Lindsey Greene single.  The Redbirds added three more in the top of the third off of runs by Regan Romshek, Strandgard, and Stephanie Gallant.  The Aces finally got something going in the bottom of the third when Chandra Parr scored while Ferguson was in a run down.  The Redbirds would add two in the fourth and one in the sixth to secure the 9-1 victory in six innings.

The Aces and the Redbirds will wrap up the series tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. CT.  The Aces will be on the road next weekend when they take on Missouri State.  The Aces next home action will be on April 14th when they have a double header against Southern Illinois.
