Evansville, IN – The University of Evansville Women's Softball team (4-14, 0-0 MVC) head to Oklahoma State this weekend to compete in the Mizuno Classic. Evansville will be joined at the tournament by the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Connecticut, and the host Oklahoma State.
The Aces took part in the Black and Orange Challenge last weekend. Evansville went 1-4 on the weekend. The Aces were able to pick up a 6-4 victory over host Mercer in the tournament. The Aces also had an impressive offensive showing against Buffalo but were defeated by a score of 14-13 in 8 innings.
The Aces are led at the plate by stand out sophomore Chandra Parr who so far this season has 19 hits in 54 at bats putting her average at a team leading .352. Parr currently also has 3 doubles, 3 homeruns, 7 RBIs, 10 walks, 17 runs, accounting for 31 total bases so far this season. On the mound the Aces are lead by Amanda Blankenship. Blankenship has endured a majority of the time on the mound so far this season. Blankenship currently has a record of 3-11 while pitching a total of 86 innings so far this season. Blankenship has a 5.05 ERA and has struck out a total of 41 batters at this point in the season.
First up for the Aces will be UMKC. The Kangaroos are currently 8-5. A couple of their key wins include Georgetown and UT-Chattanooga. The Aces and UMKC will face off on Friday at 12:00 p.m. CT. At 3:00 p.m. CT the Aces will face host Oklahoma State. The Cowgirls are currently 5-11 on the season. Evansville and Oklahoma State have faced off once already this season with an 8-5 for the Aces being the result. On Saturday March 7
th the Aces will face Connecticut for the second time this season. The Huskies are currently 4-6 and defeated the Aces earlier this year in Troy, AL by a score of 6-3.
