Late rally gives Oklahoma State 8-2 win over UE Softball

STILLWATER, Okla. –
With the score tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Oklahoma State scored four times before taking an 8-2 win over the University of Evansville softball team on Saturday afternoon.
 
Abbi Fahse was perfect on the day, recording two hits in a pair of plate appearances.  Mickaela Fleming paced the offense.  She was 1-4 with both RBIs for the Purple Aces (5-17).
 
Leading the way for the Cowgirls (8-12) was Miranda Cavin.  The catcher went 1-3, but her hit was a 3-run shot that was a difference-maker.  Tiffany Mikkelson was also strong from the plate.  She was 2-2 with a pair of runs scored and two RBIs.
 
The first run of the game scored in the bottom of the first as Vanessa Shippy grounded out to first to score Shelby Davis, who singled to lead off the game.  Mikkleson added an RBI double later to make it 2-0.
 
Evansville made its way back into the game in the bottom of the third as Mickaela Fleming knotted it up with a single to left.  Morgan Lambert singled up the middle to lead the inning off before Chandra Parr was hit by a pitch.  After Michal Luckett hit a sacrifice bunt to move the duo to second and third, Fleming delivered the game-tying hit.
 
After being held off the scoreboard in consecutive innings, the Oklahoma State offense erupted for four runs in the bottom half of the fourth.  Dre McKee singled to drive in the first run of the inning for OSU before a home run to center by Miranda Cavin capped off the 4-run inning.  The Cowgirls added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the 8-2 win.
 
Oklahoma State outhit the Aces by an 11-6 margin while drawing three walks.  Brandi Needham (4-3) picked up the win for OSU.  She pitched four scoreless innings of relief, giving up just two hits.  She relieved Whitney Whitehorn, who gave up two runs in the first three innings of play.  Amanda Blankenship (4-12) suffered the loss for UE.  She allowed 8 runs on 11 hits in six innings.
