STILLWATER, Okla. –
Connecticut third baseman Emily O'Donnell was a perfect 4-for-4 with 3 RBIs as she led the Huskies to a 10-5 victory over the University of Evansville softball team in Saturday's first game of the Mizuno Classic.

Evansville (5-16) had a strong offensive day, registering five runs on 13 hits.  Second baseman Danielle Freeman was perfect from the plate, going 303 with 2 RBIs.  Mariah Ferguson matched her total, knocking in two runs of her own.  Courtney Land and Chandra Parr recorded two hits apiece while Parr scored two of the Aces' five runs.

Parr led the game off with a double as the Aces jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.  Ferguson followed that up with a single up the middle to plate Parr and drive in the first run of the game.  Ferguson would score later on Michal Luckett double.

Connecticut quickly erased the deficit and plated eight runs in the first three innings to go up 8-2.  Their barrage started in the bottom of the first as four runs would cross the plate.  The big hit for UConn came from Dominique Pinto as her double to left-center knocked in two of their four runs in the inning.

Three more runs scored for the Huskies in the second inning as they took advantage of two UE errors that came with two outs.  A single by Lauren Duggan scored two of those three runs.

Facing a 6-run deficit, the Purple Aces chipped away, scoring three unanswered runs in the fourth and fifth innings.  Freeman hit a 2-run home run in the fourth inning while Ferguson recorded her second RBI of the day in the fifth to make it an 8-5 game.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Huskies countered with two more runs and held on for the win.

Lauren Duggan took the win for UConn, improving to 4-3 on the season.  She allowed five runs on ten hits in four innings of work.  Cecilia Dopart went the distance for the Aces.  She allowed 10 runs (only 7 earned) in her appearance.
