3/9/2015 5:15:00 PM

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Evansville men's soccer head coach Marshall Ray announcing the signing of Ian Henry as Assistant Coach on Monday afternoon.

"Ian is an intelligent and energetic young coach who will add a new dimension to our staff," said Ray. "His experience in the MVC, GLVC, and as a head coach in the PDL will allow him to be a true asset to our program."

Henry was an assistant coach each of the last two seasons at Drury, a Division II school in the Great Lake Valley Conference. He guided the Panthers to 28 wins, finished as high as 2nd in the GLVC and reached round 2 of the NCAA Division II National Tournament. Along with being an assistant at Drury, Henry was the Head Coach of the Springfield Demize, a division of the United Soccer League in the Premier Development League. He guided the Demize to the best season ever in his first season. The team was third place in conference and ranked second nationally in goals against average. Henry also worked at SIUE of the Missouri Valley Conference where he was responsible for planning and organizing training sessions, and creating a library of sessions.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to join the Ace's Soccer Program," said Henry. "The University of Evansville is rich in soccer history and I look forward to continuing that tradition."

"Coming from Springfield, MO and being able to watch several of the Valley teams, Ian has a firm grasp on what a player looks like in our conference," Ray added. "With his international and domestic contacts, he will be able to aid our staff in adding players who can compete for the MVC title and reach the NCAA tournament.  I look forward to working with Ian as we prepare our team for the upcoming season and seasons to come."

In addition to college and PDL coaching experiences, Henry was a full time director for St. Louis Scott Gallagher. While at SLSG, he was responsible for youth development and coached a number of athletes who would go on to top NCAA D1 programs. Some of his players also competed in the NCAA Tournament each of the last two seasons.

"I would like to thank Marshall and Director of Athletics Mark Spencer for giving me the opportunity to join the staff," said Henry. "We aim to create a winning program, both in the MVC and NCAA Tournament. I would also like to thank Coach Ryan Swan and my former players at Drury, who gave me some fantastic memories over the last 2 years. I am looking forward to creating many more here at Evansville"

The next spring match for UE will be against NAIA National Power, Lindsey Wilson, at home on Wednesday, Mar. 25. Lindsey Wilson has made the NAIA National Final Four in two of the last three seasons (2012, '13). The match will be at Arad McCutchan Stadium and start at 7:30 p.m.
