EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Three matches await the University of Evansville women's tennis team as they head to the state of Florida for the week.
Tuesday will see the Purple Aces play a 10:30 a.m. match versus Bucknell before a match against Quinnipiac will take place on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Evansville completes the week versus James Madison at 8:30 a.m. on Friday.
All matches will be played in Orlando.
Evansville heads to Florida sporting a 6-3 record following a loss at UT Martin over the weekend.
Kennedy Craig has been stellar for the Aces this season, going 14-5 overall in singles while beginning the spring at 6-3.
Natasha James has been even better. She is 7-2 in her first nine dual singles tilts at flight two.
Overall, the Aces are 73-42 in singles play this season after a 41-20 mark in the fall. Leading the way on the doubles end this spring has been James and
Marketa Trousilova. They have won four of their first six tries at the top flight.
Action begins on Tuesday versus Bucknell. The Bison are 0-6 thus far, but have played better than their record would indicate. Lisa Jouravleva is 4-2 in singles action this spring after going 8-4 in singles in the fall. Maria Cioffi was 12-4 last semester on her own.
Quinnipiac has not played since February 7 when they fell by a 8-0 final to Massachusetts to fall to 2-2. Sydney Young leads them with a 7-4 overall mark in singles while Sitilia Rencheli is just behind with six victories. Michelle Dassa and Jacqueline Raynor have been stellar in doubles. In the fall, they went 11-3 before winning two out of three tilts in the spring.
The week wraps up versus James Madison on Friday. The Dukes are 5-3 in the spring and put up a fight against North Carolina State last time out before falling by a final of 5-2. They opened up the semester with triumphs over Towson and Navy. Rachel Nelson has had a stellar season for JMU. A 9-5 record in the fall has helped her to a 6-1 mark in the spring, including a perfect 5-0 at flight two. Dylan Owens has also gotten off to a quick 5-1 start this spring.
