Evansville, IN– The University of Evansville Softball Team (9-32, 1-13 MVC) took on the Indiana State Sycamores in a doubleheader on Saturday. Game one went to the Sycamores as they were able to hold the Aces offense scoreless taking the win 4-0. Game two appeared that it would be more of the same when the Sycamores jumped to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second and kept that lead until the sixth when the Aces tied it at 1-1. The Sycamores were able to get the 2-1 victory in walk off fashion to complete the doubleheader sweep.

Indiana State managed to get out to a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first of game one when Megan Stone tripled to score Aubre Carpenter. Scoring was minimal during the game. The Sycamores grabbed another run in the bottom of the fifth when Kelsey Montgomery scored off a Carpenter single to make it 2-0. Stone then came out in the bottom of the sixth and homered. Abby Klopp then sacrifice bunted to score Brooke Riemenschneiber to make it 4-0 going into the seventh. The Sycamores were able to withstand the Aces in the seventh to secure the win.

Stone was able to get things going again for the Sycamore when she hit her second homerun of the day in the bottom of the second inning of game two to give Indiana State a 1-0 lead. The game remained 1-0 until the top of the sixth when the Aces were able to load the bases. Abbi Fahse was able to draw the walk allowing Chandra Parr to score and tie the game up at one a piece. In the bottom of the seventh, Kelsey Montgomery of the Sycamores grounded into a fielder's choice allowing Kassie Brown to secure the 2-1 walk off win for the Sycamores.

Game two featured some great pitching. Taylor Lockwood went all seven innings for the Sycamores allowing only one run on only three hits to claim her 10
th victory of the season. Cecilia Dopart went 6.1 innings for the Aces allowing 10 hits but only giving up two runs. Doparts record dropped to 1-5 on the season.Â

The Aces and Sycamores will wrap up their series on Sunday with a start time slated for 12:00 p.m. CDT. Evansville will see their second home action of the season on Tuesday when they take on Southern Illinois in a doubleheader.
