Aces Softball to Host the Salukis in Doubleheader Tuesday

Evansville, IN–
The University of Evansville Softball Team (9-33, 1-14 MVC) will see their second home action of the season on Tuesday night when they host a doubleheader against the Southern Illinois Salukis.  Game one will start at 3:00 p.m. with game two expected to start at 5:00 p.m. The Aces are coming off a weekend series at Indiana State.  The Sycamores were able to sweep the series over the Aces by taking game one by a score of 4-0, game two by a score of 2-1 in extra innings, and game three by a score of 7-4.
 
Courtney Land is coming off a big week for the Aces.  Land is coming off a five game set where she went 7 for 17 at the plate for a team high average on the week of .412.  Land hit a team high four doubles in the last five games.  She also accumulated a team high five RBIs.  Lands stellar performance was a key component to the Aces picking up two much needed wins against the Austin Peay Governors.
 
Danielle Freeman continues to be force for the Aces.  In just 22 games this season Freeman is hitting a team high .357.  Freeman has nine home runs along with 21 RBIs.  She has also accumulated 55 total bases while scoring 14 runs this season for the Aces.  She leads to team with a SLG% of .786.
 
Chandra Parr continues to be a model of consistency for the Aces. Parr came out and has had an impressive five games for the Aces this last week.  Parr went 5 for 15 from the plate while hitting .333.  That raised her average to .315 on the season.  Parr also added two more homeruns and five RBIs.  That brings Parr to a total of seven homeruns and 18 RBIs on the season.  Her seven homeruns rank second for the Aces.  Parr accumulated 13 total bases last week which increased her team high to 66.  She also had a slg% of .867 this past week.
 
Southern Illinois will enter the match with a record of 13-21-1 and a 7-8 mark in conference play.  The Salukis are currently riding a five game losing streak which featured a loss against St. Louis, a loss at SEMO, and a three game sweep that was handed to them by Drake.
 
Kalyn Harker comes into the match up boasting the best batting average for the Salukis with a mark of .324.  Harker is also tied for the team lead with seven doubles on the season.  Sydney Jones comes in as the Salukis big power threat with a team leading six homeruns and 21 RBIs.  On the mound, the Salukis are led by Katie Bertelsen who comes in with a record of 11-11 and an ERA of 5.14.  Bertelsen has thrown 133.1 innings this season which more than doubles the amount of innings thrown by any of her teammates.
 
After the doubleheader against the Salukis, the Aces will be back in action this weekend when they host a three game series against Northern Iowa.  Start times will be slated for 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. CDT on Saturday and will wrap up at 12:00 p.m. CDT on Sunday.
