Murray State Takes Both Wins in Doubleheader Against Aces Softball

Evansville, IN –
The University of Evansville Softball Team (10-37, 2-17 MVC) was in action on Tuesday night when they took on the Murray State Racers at Cooper Stadium.  The Racers were able to get both wins over the Aces.  Game one was one by a score of 9-5 and game two was won by a score of 10-2 in five innings.
 
Murray State was able to get things going quickly in the top of the first when Jessica Twaddle hit a two run homerun to grab a 2-0 lead.  The Aces were able to get a run back in the bottom half of the inning when Mariah Ferguson singled to center field scoring Michal Luckett.
 
The Aces then jumped to a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the 2nd when Danielle Freeman hit her 11th homer of the year scoring Luckett and Chandra Parr.  The Racers came right back in the top of the third scoring two runs off a Shelbey Miller single.  The Racers were able to get 3 more runs in the top of the fourth off a homer by Alexa Becker making the score 7-4 in favor of the Racers. 
 
The Aces were able to grab a run in the bottom of the fifth when Ferguson scored after she started the inning off with a triple to right center making the score 7-5.  Murray State responded with two more runs in the top of the sixth when Maggie Glass singled scoring Miller and Mo Ramsey making the 9-5 in favor of the Racers, which would end up being the final score as Aces couldn't get anything else going in the bottom of the sixth and seventh.
 
Evansville jumped to a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first of game two when Hayli Scott singled scoring Luckett.  The Racers got things going in the top of the third.  Twaddle was able to get a single down the right field line scoring two runs.  Glass then had a sacrifice fly scoring a third run to increase lead to 3-1 in favor of the Racers.  Morgan Lambert hit a double to right center scoring Ashlee Kawall making the score 3-2 in favor of the Racers.
 
Miller was able to hit a double to left field scoring two more runs for the Racers and increasing their lead to 5-2.  Taylor Odom then sacrifice bunted to add another run for the Racers.  Kaylyn Zierke then hit a two run homerun to increase their lead to 8-2.  Murray State then added two more off a double from Miller increasing their lead to 10-2, which would result in the final after five innings.
 
The Aces are back in action tomorrow when they head to Southern Illinois to take on the Salukis.  Game time is set for 5:00 p.m. CDT.
