Box Score

Evansville, IN – The University of Evansville Softball Team (10-39, 2-18 MVC) headed to Southern Illinois on Wednesday afternoon to finish up their three game series with the Salukis.  Southern Illinois was able to take the victory over the Aces by a score of 4-3.  The series started last week when the Aces hosted a doubleheader against the Salukis.  They split the double header with the Salukis taking game one by a score of 2-0.  UE was able to grab game to by a score of 5-4, which was won in walk off fashion.
 
UE was able to jump out to a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth when Mariah Ferguson scored when Courtney Land reached on a fielder's choice.  The Salukis responded in the bottom of the 4^th with Shaye Harre hit a two run homerun.  Sydney Jones followed that up with a solo shot to make the score 3-1 in favor of the Salukis. 
 
Chandra Parr and Danielle Freeman were able to tie it right back up in the top of the fifth when they hit back to back solo homeruns to make the score 3-3 heading into the sixth.  In the bottom of the sixth, the Salukis were able to get a run from Jessi Heese when Jessa Thomas singled making it 4-3 in favor of Southern Illinois.  The Aces weren't able to get anything going in the top of the 7^th making the final score 4-3 in favor of the Salukis.
 
Evansville will be back in action this weekend when they take their final road trip of the season to Wichita State to take on the Shockers in a three game series.  Action will start on Saturday with a doubleheader scheduled for 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. CDT.  The Series will wrap up on Sunday with the final game starting at 12:00 CDT.
