Evansville, IN– The University of Evansville Softball Team (10-42, 2-21 MVC) went to Wichita State this weekend for their last regular season road trip. After dropping game one and game two by scores of 6-2 and 8-0 on Saturday, the Aces then fell to the Shockers on Sunday by a score of 5-2.

Evansville was able to get things going first in the series finale when Danielle Freeman connected for her 13
th homer of the year making the score a quick 2-0 in the top of the first. The Aces held that lead until the bottom of the fourth when Kelli Spring stole home getting the Shockers on the board. Macklin Hitz reached on an error scoring Mackenzie Wright. Hitz was also then able to score when Melanie Jaegers singled making the 3-2 in favor of the Aces.

Wichita State was then able to load the bases in the bottom of the fifth. Cacy Williams then drew a walk scoring Brittany Fortner making the score 4-2 in favor of the Shockers. Fortner was then able to single in the bottom of the sixth scoring Jaegers to bring in to a final score of 6-2 for the Shockers win.

Michal Luckett finished the weekend with an average of .429 while going 4-7 at the plate. She also added an RBI and a run while accumulating 4 total bases for the Aces.

The Aces will finish up their regular season next weekend when they take on the Bradley Braves in a three game series. Saturday May 2
nd will feature a doubleheader with start times of 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. CDT. The series will conclude on Sunday May 3
rd with a start time of 12:00 p.m. CDT
