4/3/2015 12:30:00 PM

Evansville, IN– The University of Evansville Softball Team (7-27, 1-8 MVC) will head to Springfield, MO this weekend to take on the Missouri State Bears.  The three game series was supposed to start today but due to weather is has been pushed back a day.  The Aces and Bears will now play a double header on Saturday April 4th with starts time set for 12:00 p.m. CDT and 2:00 p.m. CDT.  The series will now wrap up on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. CDT.

The Aces are coming off their first home series of the season last weekend when they played host to the Illinois State Redbirds.  Illinois State was able to take all three of the hard fought games from the Aces.  The Aces had a good offensive showing with Danielle Freeman and Mariah Ferguson both homering in game one.  In the third game of the series, we saw a home run from Chandra Parr and Freeman again.  Defense was the struggle for the Aces as they committed 11 errors of the weekend.

Danielle Freeman continues to be a force at the plate for the Aces.  Freeman has participated in 14 games so far this season, starting all of them.  Freeman got a late start to the season because she had to finish up her swimming season before she could join the softball team.  At this point in the season, Freeman leads the team with a batting average of .364 and seven home runs.  Freeman has also accumulated 15 RBIs for the Aces.

Missouri State comes into the series with a record of 17-17.  They also boast 5-4 record in conference play.  The Bears are most recently coming off a series with Indiana State where they took two out of three games from the Sycamore and a double header that they split with SEMO.  Statistically at the plate, Missouri State is led by Mary Stephens who will come into the series batting .344 with three home runs and 17 RBIs.  On the mound, Chelsea Jones leads the Bears with a 9-6 record and a 2.87 ERA.
