Aces Softball Loses to Missouri State to Wrap Up Weekend Series

Box Score

Evansville, IN–
The University of Evansville Softball Team (7-30, 1-11 MVC) wrapped up their series with the Missouri State Bears on Sunday.  After dropping the first two games on Saturday by scores of 0-1 and 2-11, they were unable to come back on Sunday and grab a victory.  The Bears won the game by a score of 7-3.

Missouri State was able to jump out to a quick 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first.  Chelsea Jones was able to get two of those runs for the Bears when she doubled to left center scoring both Rebecca McPherson and Hailee Vigneaux.  In the bottom of the second, Erika Velasquez Zimmer was able to steal home to advance the lead to 5-0 in favor of the Bears.

The Aces were finally able to get something going in the top of the third when Chandra Parr was able to single through the left side to score Mariah Ferguson making the score 5-1 in favor of the Bears.  The Bears responded quickly though in the bottom half of the inning when Kaitlin Beason started the inning off with a solo home run.

The Bears grabbed another run in the bottom of the fifth when Olivia Roark bunted for a single allowing Chelsea Thomas to score making the score 7-1 in favor of the Bears.  The Aces grabbed a run in the top of the sixth when Hayli Tracy singled to the shortstop scoring Danielle Freeman.  Before the seventh inning got started there a 43 minute rain delay. When play resumed Evansville was able to get another run in the top of the seventh when Freeman doubled to right field scoring Ashlee Kawall.  That would be all the scoring that the Aces could get though losing the game by a score of 7-3.

The Aces will be back in action this week when they head to Austin Peay for a doubleheader on Wednesday April 8th.  Start times are set for 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. CDT.  Evansville will again be on the road this coming weekend when they head to Indiana State for a three game series with the Sycamores.
