Aces Softball Heads to Austin Peay For Mid-Week Doubleheader

The University of Evansville Softball Team (7-30, 1-11 MVC) will head to Austin Peay on Wednesday for a doubleheader against the Governors.  Game times are set for 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. CDT. The Aces are coming off a weekend series against the Missouri State Bears.  Missouri State managed to get the sweep over the Aces with defeats of 1-0, 11-2, and 7-3.
 
Danielle Freeman remains a bright spot for the Aces.  This past weekend, Freeman went 4-9 for an average of .444.  Freeman also had a home run on the weekend along with two RBIs.  Those performances brought Freeman to an average of .377 on the season with eight home runs and 17 RBIs.  Freeman has accomplished these feats in only 17 of the 37 games that the Aces have played in this season.
 
Ashlee Kawall is coming off a strong weekend for the Aces as well.  Kawall went 3-7 at the plate for an average of .429.  Kawall was able to grab her second double of the year against the Bears.  She accumulated four total bases and scored a run for the Aces.  Kawall was also able to get her team leading sixth stolen base of the year against the Bears.
 
The Governors coming into the contest with a record of 8-21 over and a 4-8 mark in Ohio Valley Conference play.  Most recently Austin Peay is coming off a two game set against Morehead State.  Austin Peay and Morehead State split the two games with the Governors taking the second one by a score of 5-1.  At the plate, Niya Sparks leads the Governors with an average of .324.  Sparks also has six homeruns along with 16 RBIs.  On the mound, Natalie Ayala has seen the most action among Governors pitchers at 56.2 innings thrown.  Ayala has a record of 4-7 and an ERA of 6.42.
 
The Aces will be back in action this weekend when they head to Indiana State to take on the Sycamores in a three game set.  Game times are set for 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. CDT on Saturday April 11th and 12:00 p.m. CDT on Sunday April 12th.  The Aces next home action will be on Tuesday April 14th when they take on the Southern Illinois Salukis.
