LIVE STATS - GAME NOTES
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Evansville women's soccer team (1-0-0) eyes a perfect preseason record when the Purple Aces visit Austin Peay State University (1-0-0) on Saturday, August 14.
The match will be held at Morgan Brothers Field in Clarksville, Tenn. and begin at 7:00 p.m. CDT.
THE OPPONENTAustin Peay won their lone preseason match, 3-1 against Indiana State on Aug. 11. The match with Evansville is the final preseason foe for the Governors this year. Last season, APSU finished 4-13-1 including a 3-6-1 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference.
LAST TIME OUTDown 1-0, Evansville scored twice in the final 15 minutes of their preseason match with Eastern Illinois for a 2-1 victory on August 11. Freshman midfielder
Molly Lear tallied the equalizer in the 75th minute and senior defender
Abby Springer netted the game-winner in the 78th minute for the one goal victory.
THE COACHESKelley Guth (91-133-23) is the only head coach in the history of the women's soccer program at Austin Peay. She is in her 14
th season.
#Krista McKendree# (53-62-17) begins her eighth season leading the Purple Aces.
HISTORYEvansville is 5-0-0 all-time in regular season matches against Austin Peay. The last matchup in regular season play was a 3-0 Aces win on Aug. 22, 2014. The first ever meeting took place on Oct. 27, 2005, a 4-2 Evansville victory.
NATIONAL HONORSenior goalkeeper #
Simone Busby# will be playing for the Guyana National Team as they compete in CONCACAF Qualifying later this month. Busby also previously played for the Guyana U20 team as well.
UP FOR THE CHALLENGEEvansville will play three teams that completed last season in the RPI Top 100. Those opponents are Illinois State (32), Miami (Ohio) (58), and Vanderbilt (96).
UPCOMING PROMOTIONSUE will have a Field of Dreams Uganda game vs. Miami (Ohio) on Sun., Aug. 30. The Aces have a Military Appreciation / Wounded Warrior game with Belmont on Fri., Sept. 11. The annual Multiple Sclerosis match with an alumni/parents weekend is on Sat., Sept. 26. Senior Day festivities are set for Thurs., Oct. 29.
HOSTING THE CHAMPIONSHIPEvansville is hosting the 2015 MVC Women's Soccer Championship this year. The semifinals will take place on Fri., Nov. 6 with the Championship match to take place on Sun., Nov. 8. All matches will be held at Arad McCutchan Stadium in Evansville, Ind.
BRING IT ON BACKThere are high hopes this season for Evansville. The program returns 19 letterwinners (nine starters) from last year's team that finished second in the Missouri Valley Conference and runner-ups in the MVC Tournament.
