CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Evansville women's soccer team (1-0-1) received a goal from senior midfielder
Allie Arguello in a 1-1 tie at Austin Peay (1-0-1) on Saturday night. The Purple Aces finish the preseason exhibition slate undefeated and will begin the regular season at home against Xavier University on Friday, August 21.

Krista McKendree. "We showed some very nice things in the first half. Some players continued to impress as they have thus far this preseason."
Evansville went ahead 1-0 in the 21
st minute when freshman forward
Sara Osinski set up Arguello in the top of the box. Arguello then placed the ball past Governors goalkeeper Lindsey Todd in the left corner of the net for the 1-0 advantage.
Purple Aces junior goalkeeper
Whitney Biggs then maintained the lead by making a save on Courtney Shepherd in the 23
rd minute. Austin Peay nearly scored the equalizer in the 38
th minute but Jennifer Smith's shot went off the post, maintaining the 1-0 UE edge into halftime.
After the break, the Governors tied up the match on a Shelby Olszewski goal in the 56
th minute past senior goalkeeper
Simone Busby.
Even at one, Evansville almost regained the lead in the 63
rd minute but a shot from junior forward
Bronwyn Boswell was saved by Todd. UE's last attack occurred in the 88
th minute but the Aces proved to be offsides in the waning moments of the 1-1 tie.
"Overall, we are happy with a lot of what we have seen and still have some things to get sorted out," added McKendree. "We are pretty pleased thus far."
Arguello and Boswell recorded four shots each for the Aces. Biggs (two saves) and Busby (one save) split time in net with each logging 45 minutes between the posts.
The UE – Xavier match will be held at Arad McCutchan Stadium and begin at 7:00 p.m. CDT.
