Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Aces fall in trip to Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. – Camary Williams bounced back with a strong game at Ball State on Wednesday, but her efforts went all for naught as the University of Evansville women's basketball team dropped an 84-49 decision to the host Cardinals at John E. Worthen Arena.

Williams, who racked up 17 points in the game, hit a pair of three-pointers and was a constant pest defensively, recording three steals and forcing a few more with her pressure defensively. However, the Aces (0-3) couldn't get much else going on offense as Sara Dickey and Sasha Robinson tied for second on the team with eight points apiece.

The Cardinals (2-0), on the other hand, boasted of balance throughout the line-up, led by Jill Morrison's 19 points. Renee Bennett was second on the team with 16 points and 10 boards, and Destiny Washington picked up a double-double as well with 14 and 11. Moriah Monaco (14 points) and Calyn Hosea (11) rounded out the double-digit scorers for the hosts.

The two sides battled for much of the opening half, but a late run, spurred on by a trio of steals, allowed BSU to take a 37-25 lead into the break.

The third quarter changed the game as the Aces were out-scored 30-9 in the frame, effectively putting the result out of reach.

UE will return to action this weekend as Southeast Missouri will pay a visit to Ford Center on Sunday. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m.

NOTES: Sara Dickey is now 26 points away from the all-time Aces scoring record of 1,713, which is currently held by Shelly Brand-Adlard … With 623 career rebounds, Sasha Robinson is 30 away from moving into a tie with Rebekah Parker and Shannon Novosel for sixth in the school record books … UE is 7-9 all-time against Ball State … This year marked the 10th consecutive that the two sides have met … UE is 125-162 all-time against fellow Indiana schools.
