Swimming and Diving wrap up House of Champions

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. –  Tonight was the final night of competition for the Aces at the House of Champions at IUPUI.

"Awesome weekend," said head coach Rickey Perkins. "Everyone on the team went a lifetime or season best time this weekend. We will now go back to work and start focusing on the second part of the season."

Junior Danielle Freeman displayed another record breaking performance tonight. She took the victory in the 100 freestyle, her time of 50.94 breaking her own meet record of 51.19 set in 2014. Michaela Kent competed in the championship heat as well, taking sixth place with a time of 51.47. Also earning points for the Aces were sophomore Madi Jones in 20th with a 53.32, and freshman Emma Hennessy in 23rd with a 53.82.

The Lady Aces' distance swimmers represented well in the mile. Freshmen Kristy Kupfer and Ashton Adams finished the 1650 freestyle in 9th and 14th places, clocking in at 18:00.90 and 18:08.26 respectively.

Senior Taylor Davidson had a top eight finish of her own as well. She earned sixth place in the 200 backstroke with her time of 2:04.42. Sophomore Sam Gowdy finished close behind with a 2:05.40 for 9th place.

Junior Kayla Aitken's championship final performance in the 200 breaststroke took eighth place with a time of 2:27.41. Freshman Alaina Sylvester came next for the Aces in 12th place, touching in at 2:27.98. In the same heat, fellow freshman Shaina Weisberg placed 16th with 2:29.95. Sophomore Sylvia McFadden also earned points for the team in a 20th place finishing 2:30.23.

Sophomore Kristen Myers led the Lady Aces in the 200 butterfly in a 12th place finish, her time 2:08.27.

Hennessy, Jones, Kent, and Freeman took to the pool in the 400 Freestyle Relay for the women's last performance this evening. Their time of 3:30.15 was good for fourth place.

Freshman Brandt Hudson led the way for the men this evening. He finished the 1650 freestyle with a time of 16:23.57.
Fellow freshman Isaac Devaney took the top finish for the Aces in the 200 backstroke. His time of 1:59.44 put him in 24th place. Junior Brendan Ninneman followed in 29th with a 1:59.97.

Sophomores Jared Sutphin and Blake Wheeler had consecutive finishes in the 100 freestyle. Their times of 47.20 and 47.36 earned them 19th and 20th place respectively.

Sophomore Derek Stauder was the sole competitor for Evansville in the 200 breaststroke. He placed 29th with his time of 2:12.41.

Freshman Paul Cozzens took 17th in the 200 butterfly with a final time of 1:53.40. Junior Dan O'Brien followed in 27th with 1:59.66.

The 400 Freestyle Relay comprised of senior Everett Plocek, Suphin, sophomore Matt Duke, and Wheeler ended the night clocking in at 3:08.82 for 10th place.

On the diving side, junior Courtney Coverdale took second place on the 3-Meter with 254.25 points. Freshman Alyssa Vonder Haar earned 12th place with her score of 141.40. On the men's side, sophomore Miguel Marcano took 14th on the 1-Meter with a final score of 202.95.

The final score for the women was 1045 points for fourth place, while the men took seventh with 466. Evansville finished the weekend with a combined total of 1477 points for a final standing of sixth place.

The Aces return December 2nd to Wyttenbach Pool with a home meet against Missouri State.
