Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Aces fall 89-47 at No. 8 Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Evansville women's basketball team saw its four-game win streak snapped on Sunday as the Purple Aces dropped a 89-47 decision to eighth-ranked Louisville at the KFC Yum! Center.

"We knew it was going to be a tough game," UE interim head coach Matt Ruffing said. "I was hoping that we would be able to execute better. I know the windows and timing of everything narrows when you play a team like this. I just wanted to play our game, and at times, we weren't able to do that. I'm hoping we can regroup the next couple of days and close out our nonconference schedule strong."

UE, which was riding its longest winning streak in two years prior to the game, dropped to 4-6 on the year. Meanwhile, the Cardinals picked up their fifth straight win to move to 11-2 overall.

The Aces were led in the contest by Camary Williams, who ended with 10 points, eight rebounds and a pair of steals. Sara Dickey added eight points and four rebounds, and Ashley Hawkins led the team in boards with 10.

After a Williams three-point play five minutes into the game made it 7-7, the hosts responded with a 20-4 run to close out the first quarter and would never look back.

Kylee Shook led the Cardinals with 18 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks, and Asia Durr was second on the team with 15 points and four assists.

UE will return to action on Wednesday when the team closes out the non-conference slate with a showdown against Alabama A&M at the Ford Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

NOTES: Sara Dickey's career point total of 1,810 ranks 16th in Missouri Valley Conference History … She's 33 away from moving into the top 15 … She also ranks 23rd in the MVC in threes made with 218 … Sasha Robinson's rebound total of 690 ranks sixth in school history, and she's 55 away from moving into the top five … UE is 3-12 all-time against Louisville … UE is 29-45 all-time vs. opponents from the state of Kentucky.
