Aces set to return to action against Austin Peay

12/9/2016 4:25:00 PM

EVANSVILLE – With three straight victories in hand, the University of Evansville women's basketball team will be looking to keep the momentum going on Saturday afternoon as the team will play host to visiting Austin Peay at the Ford Center.

UE vs. Austin Peay (Saturday, Noon):  Live Stats  |  The Valley on ESPN3  |  91.5 WUEV  |  APSU Website

The Aces (3-5) have come to life in recent weeks, thanks in large part to an offense that has averaged 80 points over the past five games. After a slow start to the season, the team is shooting at a 43.4% clip over that span, which includes a 46.8% mark over the course of the three-game streak.

Unsurprisingly, Sara Dickey has played a huge role in the team's success. The senior ranks as UE's all-time leading scorer, and she's picked up where she left off this season, averaging 17.6 points per contest. However, the big storyline in the last two weeks has been the emergence of a fellow senior in Camary Williams. The reigning College Sports Madness National Player of the Week, Williams has flirted with a triple-double on three occasions over the past five games, averaging 16.6 points, 8.2 rebounds, 6.4 steals and 3.0 assists over that stretch.

Williams also leads the nation in steals, averaging five per contest.

Brooke Dossett, a junior college product out of Vincennes, is the only other Ace averaging in double figures this season, kicking in 12.5 points and 3.4 assists per game.

While momentum has been building for the Aces, the visiting Governors will be looking to get back on track after dropping three of their past four games, including an 85-65 decision to Western Kentucky a week ago. APSU is 5-4 on the season overall, including a 1-1 mark away from home.

In addition to the game, the women's basketball team will be hosting its annual Teddy Bear Toss. At halftime, fans will be encouraged to throw a stuffed animal for a chance to win a UE prize pack. Fans who bring stuffed animals will also have the option to purchase a ticket to Saturday afternoon's men's basketball game for just $5.

Tipoff on Saturday is slated for noon.

NOTES: Sara Dickey's career point total of 1,782 ranks 17th in the Missouri Valley Conference history books. She's 18 points away from tying former Indiana State star Melanie Boeglin (2002-06) for 16th … Dickey is ninth among the nation's active leading scorers … Camary Williams is the only player in the country with four games of seven steals or more … The Aces are 7-10 all-time against Austin Peay, including 5-3 in Evansville … The two schools haven't met since a 72-68 Aces victory at the Ford Center in 2014 … UE has won three in a row in the series overall … All-time the Aces are 18-14 vs. Tennessee opponents.
