ST. LOUIS – It is lucky number seven for University of Evansville senior D.J. Balentine as he earned Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week honors for the 7
th time in his career on Monday.
In one of the most important stretches for the Purple Aces since entering the Missouri Valley Conference, senior D.J. Balentine took matters into his own hands to average 26.5 points per game in leading the Aces to wins at Drake and a home triumph over Southern Illinois. Balentine began the week with 26 points and 7 assists as the Aces won their first game at Drake since 2010. He played all 40 minutes while hitting four triples.
He did well in Saturday's home win over SIU, playing all 40 minutes once again, hitting 10 of his 16 attempts to finish with 27 points. Aside from his scoring output, Balentine played all 80 minutes while averaging 6.5 assists per game and hit all 9 free throw attempts.
Balentine and the Aces are set for tomorrow's 8 p.m. game at Bradley. Fans in the area can watch the game on Fox Sports Midwest.
