TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – After taking a lead into the half, Sara Dickey's 16 points wouldn't prove enough for the University of Evansville women's basketball team as the Purple Aces fell 57-45 to Indiana State at the Hulman Center.
The Aces (2-24, 1-14 Missouri Valley) trailed for much of the first quarter before mounting a surge late in the frame to pull within two. The run would continue into the second quarter, where the team would lead by as many as five points before heading back into the locker room with a 25-23 edge.
However, the third quarter would not be as as kind, as the Sycamores (13-13, 9-6 MVC) charged ahead with a 15-0 run out of the break to take control of the game.
UE was led on the day by Sara Dickey and her game-best 16 points. The junior out of Montezuma, Ind., was 6-of-16 from the field and connected on four three-pointers. It marked her 21
st game in double figures this season. Kerri Gasper also recorded double-digit points, finishing with 11, and Camary Williams starred as well with seven points and a career-best seven rebounds.
ISU was led by the duo of Cierra Ceazer and Rhagen Smith, who each finished with 13 points, and Joyea Marshall led the game in boards with 11 to go along with eight points.
