Aces Tennis Set for Two Weekend Matches

3/17/2016 2:37:00 PM

Evansville, IN– The University of Evansville Women's Tennis Team (6-10, 0-0) will be in action twice this coming weekend.  The Aces will start things off on Friday when they head to Nashville, TN to take on Lipscomb.  They will follow that up with a home match on Sunday when they play host to Kentucky Wesleyan.  Sunday's match against Kentucky Wesleyan is scheduled to take place at Wessleman's Park.  Both matches are slated for 4:00 p.m. CST start times.

The Aces are coming off a solid win this past Sunday when they were able to defeat Southeast Missouri State by a score of 5-2.  After winning two of three doubles matches to secure the doubles point, the Aces were able to take four out of six singles matches to secure the win.  The Aces only dropped points at flight one and flight six singles.

Coach Jayson Wiseman said on the match, "It's nice to get a home win against a quality opponent.  SEMO had a variety of different styles of players that were difficult to adjust to, which is why at one point we faced a deficit in every match except #1 doubles.  From top to bottom I'm very pleased with our effort, and this was a terrific result for our team still playing without one of our top two singles players and our number one doubles team.  These ladies did a great job of seizing the momentum early and taking the doubles point, and then caring the momentum over to singles."

The Bisons from Lipscomb come into their match with the Aces with an overall record of 8-3.  They were riding a seven match winning streak until having it snapped last Friday with a 4-3 loss to Murray State.

Following this weekend the Aces will start conference play.  They are slated for two away matches against Southern Illinois on April 2nd and Illinois State on April 9th.  Their next home match will come on April 10th when they play host to Brescia.  Evansville's first home conference match will come on April 16th when they host Drake.
