SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Mildrelis Rodriguez posted a team-best seven kills to lead the University of Evansville volleyball team in a 3-0 defeat at Missouri State on Saturday night.
Rodriguez had the top tally while Cathy Schreiber notched six kills and Rachel Tam had five. Tam tied Cassie Brooks for the team lead with nine digs while Allana McInnis paced UE (6-10, 0-4 MVC) with 18 assists. Lily Johnson had a stellar outing for the Bears (13-5, 5-0 MVC) as she had 12 kills while hitting .407. She also had 13 digs.

Despite falling behind 9-2 in the first set, UE never gave up. The Aces clawed their way back, getting within four at 21-17. Schreiber and Erlicia Griffith notched kills to cap off the rally. MSU was able to regroup as they hung on for a 25-18 win as Lauren Boone had the clinching kill.
A service ace from Allana McInnis helped Evansville cut into an early deficit in game two as she got the Aces within five tallies of the Bears at 11-6. Missouri State responded with a 9-0 stretch before winning by a 25-10 final. Johnson had two kills in the run.
Evansville got off to a better start in the third frame, posting the first two points before going up 4-3 on a Bear error. From there, MSU took control. Four in a row gave them the lead for good as they earned the match victory with a 25-14 decision.
On Friday, the Aces return home to Meeks Family Fieldhouse as they open the weekend with a 7 p.m. contest versus Drake. UNI comes to town on Saturday for another 7 p.m. match.
