EVANSVILLE, Ind. – It was an exciting night at the Ford Center as basketball season kicked off with the annual Hoopfest event for the University of Evansville men's and women's basketball seasons.

A full night of action included a 3-point shooting contest, a game of knockout, a dunk contest, an interactive shooting contest that featured both teams and fans, scrimmages by each team and finally autographs and a chance for fans to get up close to the Aces student-athletes.

In an exciting 3-point shooting contest, Shea Feehan and Marley Miller squared off in the finals.  Feehan defeated Noah Frederking in a tiebreaker to advance to the finals.  Miller took top honors, making the most triples in a minute of work.  Following the 3-point contest, both teams played a game of knockout with a few familiar faces earning the win for their teams.  Miller and Feehan took the victory for their respective squads.

Next up was an exciting dunk contest that featured four judges – Scott Shreffler, Larry Meeks, Matt Ruffing and a social media contest winner.  Sam Cunliffe and DeAndre Williams reached the finals with Cunliffe taking the championship with a perfect score of 40 on his final dunk.

An interactive contest saw three teams paired up with a fan.  The object was to hit a layup, free throw, 3-pointer and a half-court shot in 90 seconds.  Team one saw Jawaun Newton and Tattenai Hall team up while Anna Newman and Dainius Chatkevicius were the second team.  Chatkevicius nailed a half-court shot at the buzzer, forcing the third team – Brooke Bishop and K.J. Riley – to make all four shots with the most amount of time on the clock.  With just over 12 seconds left, Bishop nailed the long shot to give her team the win.

UE's women took to the court in their scrimmage.  Kaylan Coffman and Brooke Bishop posted six points apiece while Tayzha Buck and Sydney Tucker had five tallies apiece.  Buck and Tucker each hit a long range shot.  On the men's side, a combined eight 3-pointers highlighted the contest.  Shea Feehan and Marty Hill each registered seven points while John Hall nailed a pair of triples to finish with six.

Following the on court action, the Aces teams took time to meet with the fans in attendance.

Both squads are in full preparations for the season.  The women take on Kentucky Wesleyan in a home exhibition game on Oct. 28 inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse before regular season play starts on Nov. 7 with a visit to Murray State.  The men welcome former Aces Craig Snow and his New Mexico Highlands squad to the Ford Center on Nov. 3 for an exhibition game before opening the season on the road at Illinois five days later.
