Men's Soccer battles Valley leader Loyola Saturday

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Heading into the final stretch of the regular season, the University of Evansville men's soccer team travels to face MVC-leader Loyola at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night in Chicago, Ill..

Entering the weekend, the Purple Aces are riding a three-match unbeaten streak continuing the run with a 0-0 draw with SIUE on Tuesday evening at Arad McCutchan Stadium. The non-conference contest saw 27 total shots between the two sides with the Cougars gaining a narrow 14-13 advantage, but neither side could find the back of the net. Tuesday's match represented the first time since August 20, 2013 that the Aces played to a scoreless draw.

The Aces and Ramblers are meeting for the 23rd time with Evansville moving into the matchup with a 19-2-1 record in the all-time series with Loyola. Last season, the two sides became plenty familiar with one another as UE and Loyola went head-to-head on three occasions with Evansville earning the 2-1 edge including  a 1-0 victory in the quarterfinals of the 2017 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. Of the Aces' two losses in the series, neither has come on the road with the Ramblers defeating UE at Arad McCutchan Stadium in 2015 and 2017. Loyola comes in to Saturday night's match with a 7-4-2 overall record and a 2-0-2 mark in MVC action, currently sitting at the top of the conference standings with eight points. The Ramblers are on a five-match unbeaten streak heading into the weekend, last losing on the road at UIC, 2-1, on September 25. Offensively, Loyola is led by Grant Stoneman, who has scored three goals to go along with an assist this season. Fabian Lifka and Fabian Becerra have helped aid the Ramblers' attack contributing three assists each, while Lifka has scored twice and Becerra has found goal once. In goal, Josh Lagudah has played and started in 10 of the Ramblers' 13 matches, making 22 saves with a 0.57 goals-against average.
