EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The University of Evansville men's soccer team earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, it was announced in a release by the organization.

"It's what we're about here at the University of Evansville," said Aces' men's soccer head coach Marshall Ray. "We talk about it all the time through the recruitment process and once the guys get on campus it's about being able to compete in the classroom and on the field of play.  I think this group's been able to do that over the course of the last six or seven years and it's something we're very proud of and it's a big part of who we are here at the University of Evansville. So it's an honor to receive that award on multiple occasions."

For the sixth-straight season, the Aces have earned the team academic award. With the Purple Aces' women also earning the honor, this marks the sixth-straight year and 10th overall that both programs have received the award.

United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of high school and college soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year. College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster. Evansville finished the 2017-18 academic year with a team GPA of 3.37.

A total of 782 college teams (293 men, 489 women) earned the Team Academic Award. Evansville was one of just 198 schools who had both their men's and women's programs among the recipients.

The Aces were one of three Missouri Valley Conference teams to receive the honor, joined by Loyola and Valparaiso.
