Trip to face Chicago State next for Aces

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Continuing its road swing to open the season, the University of Evansville women's basketball team heads to the Windy City for a matchup with Chicago State at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in Chicago, Ill..

The Purple Aces are coming off an 81-53 road loss to Murray State in Evansville's regular season opener on Wednesday evening. Leading the way for Evansville, freshman Makayla Wallace recorded a team-high 16 points on seven-of-nine shooting from the field. Joining Wallace in double figures was senior Brooke Bishop who tallied 10 points on the evening. Coming off the bench, junior Kaylan Coffman scored six points while adding five rebounds and four blocks in the contest. Of the Aces' 53 points, Evansville found much of its scoring inside as 36 (68%) of UE's points were scored inside the paint.

Saturday's contest represents the seventh all-time meeting between the two sides with Evansville holding a 6-0 advantage in the series. The last time the two sides did battle, the Aces picked up an 81-53 over the Cougars on the road in Chicago, Ill. Just once in the six-game history has the contest been decided by 10 points or less with UE earning a 79-72 win over the Cougars during the 1990-91 season.  Chicago State enters its 2018-19 campaign following a 1-29 overall record and a 1-13 mark in conference action a season ago. Through one regular season game this season, Tyeshia Bowers leads the way for Xavier, scoring 26 points against the Musketeers. Along with Bowers, another double-digit scorer for the Cougars is Kourtney Crane who tallied 11 points in Chicago State.
