EVANSVILLE, Ind. - After helping lead the Purple Aces to a win over Bradley, University of Evansville men's soccer junior midfielder Jesse Stafford-Lacey was named Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced in a release by the conference office on Tuesday.
In a thrilling 4-3 win over Bradley on Saturday, Stafford-Lacey scored the game-winning goal from the penalty spot in the 90th minute, while assisting on another goal. Stafford-Lacey's game-winner secured an MVC Championship bid for the Aces in the regular-season finale, as Evansville earned the No. 5 seed in the tournament. On the year, Stafford-Lacey is tied for a team-high with three goals and leads Evansville with eight points in 2018.
The junior is the second Aces this season to earn MVC Offensive Player of the Week honors with junior forward Ben Weber receiving the accolade on September 11 following a game-winning goal over Grand Canyon.
Evansville enters the postseason on Wednesday with a matchup with No. 4 seed Missouri State at 6:00 p.m. at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
