Box Score CHICAGO, ILL. - In its postseason opener, the University of Evansville men's soccer team saw its season come to a close in a 2-0 loss to No. 3 seed Bradley in the MVC Championship quarterfinals on Wednesday evening in Chicago, Ill.
The early going of the match was productive for Evansville as the Aces owned an advantage in shots on-goal. Evansville received a penalty kick in the 22nd minute, but senior Jesse Stafford-Lacey saw his penalty saved by the Braves. Minutes later, Bradley was awarded a PK, much like Saturday's meeting between the two. The Braves' Gerit Wintermeyer converted the PK and secured the halftime advantage for Bradley. Evansville ended the opening half with a decisive, 4-1, advantage in shots on target.
As was true in these two teams' last meeting, the Aces had attacking opportunities to open the second half. In the 55th minute, sophomore Ryan Harris fired a shot on-frame that was saved by Braves' goalkeeper Nathan Wisbey. Much of Evansville's offense was generated by freshman Lucas Weir who totaled three shots, including a pair on-goal. The Aces searched for a goal late, but Bradley struck for a brace in the 89th minute as Wintermeyer scored his second of the match in the Braves' 2-0 win.
Bradley finished with a 13-11 advantage in shots, but it was Evansville who concluded the match with a 5-3 margin in shots on-goal.
