Women's Basketball heads north to face Indiana State in road finale

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Entering the final two weeks of the regular season, the University of Evansville women's basketball team travels to take on Indiana State at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening in Terre Haute, Ind.

Last Game: UNI 95, Evansville 46 (Cedar Falls, Iowa, Feb. 26)
  • Evansville dropped its penultimate road contest of the season to UNI, 95-46, on Sunday afternoon.
  • Senior Kerri Gasper led the way for the Aces, scoring 14 points and adding four rebounds, moving Gasper into 14th all-time at Evansville in career points with 1,096.
  • Continuing to shoot well from the charity stripe, the Aces finished 9-11 from the free-throw line against UNI, bringing Evansville's season average to 76.5%, second-best in the MVC.
  • For the ninth-time this season, freshman Anna Newman scored nine-or-more points, tallying nine points in 23 minutes of action.
  • Freshman Makayla Wallace recorded her 51st steal of the season on Sunday, the most by any Aces' freshman in a season since Dakota Weatherford's 65 steals in 2013-14.
  • Against UNI, the Aces shot higher than 30% in all but one quarter, shooting just 23.1% (3-13) from the field in the second quarter.

Next Opponent: vs. Indiana State

  • Evansville and Indiana State are meeting for the 58th time in series history.
  • In the last meeting, the Sycamores captured a 76-69 win over the Aces on Feb. 1, 2019 in Evansville, Ind.
  • The Sycamores were the lone conference opponent whom the Aces played within single-digits in both contests a season ago.
  • Indiana State has won nine of the last 12 meetings between the two sides.
Defensive Effort against Drake
  • The Aces have stepped-up defensively when facing strong competition.
  • Facing No. 24 Drake on Friday evening, the Aces held the Bulldogs to 42.1% shooting from the field.
  • Along with holding Drake to 38.4% from the field earlier in the season, the Aces are the only team to hold the Bulldogs under 45% in both matchups this season.
  • Only one team has held Drake to a lower field goal percentage than the 38.4% the Aces held the Bulldogs to in the two sides' first matchup this season. Rutgers limited Drake to just 36.5% shooting from the field on Nov. 22.
