Box Score ROSEMONT, Ill. – In the finale of Friday's opening day at the Total Control Invitational, the University of Evansville softball team fell by a 9-1 final against DePaul.

DePaul scored a single run in the first and four in the third. Three runs in the bottom of the sixth helped them clinch the victory via run rule.

"It was a tough day at the ballpark, we just did not play like we are capable of playing as a team," UE head softball coach Mat Mundell said. "The positive thing is the mistakes are correctable and tomorrow as a new day. We will come ready to play!"

Evansville notched four hits in the game with Toni Galas, Katie McLean, Bailee Bostic and Ashleigh Downing accounting for them. Downing made the start for the Purple Aces.

Tomorrow, UE continues the tournament with a 2 p.m. contest against Detroit before facing Butler at 4:30 p.m.
