ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Missouri Valley Conference has honored University of Evansville junior left-hand pitcher Nathan Croner, naming him the MVC Pitcher of the Week. 

And with good reason. In his fourth start of the season, Croner tossed a gem in game one of a doubleheader sweep of Iowa on Sunday. The southpaw went seven innings, shutting out the the potent Iowa batting order, while striking out seven, while scattering a walk and two hits. For the season, Croner is 3-1, with a team high 23.2 IP, while being second on the team in ERA (3.42), strikeouts (18 k's), and opponents batting average (.151).   

"Great to see Nate receive this weekly award", said UE baseball head coach Wes Carroll. "All season he has stepped up for us, and yesterday against Iowa, he did an outstanding job for us."

Croner and the Aces baseball team will be back in action this coming weekend, with their first true home series against Creighton, beginning Friday night at 6 pm.
