Box Score EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Powered by an impressive performance on the mound by Nathan Croner, the University of Evansville soared to an 11-0 win over Creighton on Saturday afternoon at Charles H. Braun Stadium.
"I knew they were going to come out with a lot of energy. Creighton is a well-respected program that plays the game the right way and they're always going to respond, especially after a tough loss on Friday night," said Aces' baseball head coach Wes Carroll. "Those first three innings, Nate Croner, our pitcher, just really cut out their momentum and gave our offense a chance to have our big inning and I thought just another outstanding performance from an upperclassman."
Commanding the mound for Evansville, Croner pitched seven scoreless innings for the second-straight game, allowing six hits, striking out seven, and walking just one. Offensively, Evansville's top and bottom of the order came through for the Aces as second baseman Danny Borgstrom recorded a team-best three RBIs on the afternoon.
"He's been doing it all year for us in hat pivotal Saturday swing spot and for him to secure the series win, I just couldn't be more proud of him," said Carroll on Croner's performance.
Creighton found some offense early in the contest, opening the game with a single on the first pitch of the game. After eventually stealing second, the Bluejays looked to score an early run, but after a single to third, Sam Troyer threw out a Bluejay at the plate to end the inning. On the other hand, Evansville capitalized on its opportunity in the bottom half of the first, as A.J. Fritz singled in Craig Shepherd to give the Aces the 1-0 lead.

Croner settled in and continued to deal throughout the early portion of the game, holding on to the Aces 1-0 advantage. The offense returned the favor to Croner in the fourth inning as Evansville plated four runs in a two-out rally to increase its lead to five runs. In his final two innings of the afternoon, Croner made easy work of the Bluejays, allowing just one hit and ending his outing with back-to-back strikeouts to close the seventh inning.
Evansville's offense never relented, tallying three runs in each the eighth and ninth innings, helping power the Aces to an 11-0 victory over Creighton.
The Aces look to secure a three-game sweep of Creighton at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at Braun Stadium.
