EVANSVILLE, Ind. - With the summer in full swing, many members of the University of Evansville men's soccer team are continuing to play soccer throughout the summer. As the seasons progress for the seven Aces' student-athletes participating in summer soccer leagues, this blog will be updated with highlights and information on each student-athlete.
This week's highlight came as Ben Weber tallied three goals in two matches for St. Louis Lions including the game-winner over WSA Winnipeg on Saturday.
Francesco Brunetti, Thunder Bay Chill (USL League 2): Brunneti played in both matches for Thunder Bay Chill, helping the Chill earn two wins. In the opening match of the week, Brunetti played in 14 minutes and held the Green Bay Voyageurs goalless in a 2-0 Thunder Bay win. Facing Aces' teammate Ben Weber and the St. Louis Lions, Brunetti assisted on the Chill's first goal, as Brunetti fed Sullivan Oliveira Silva in the third minute as Thunder Bay earned a 2-1 win.
Filip Johansson, FC Buffalo (NPSL):Â Making the start in FC Buffalo's lone match of the week, Filip Johansson and FC Buffalo fell to Cleveland SC, 3-0, at home on Saturday, marking just the second loss for FC Buffalo since May 25.
Ben Weber, St. Louis Lions (USL League 2): It was a magical week for Ben Weber as the soon-to-be senior for the Aces put on an offensive exhibition. On Saturday against WSA Winnipeg, Weber scored twice, first in the sixth minute and again in the 33rd minute, to lead the Lions to a 3-0 thrashing of Winnipeg. Weber followed the performance up with another goal on Monday against Francesco Brunetti's Thunder Bay Chill squad. Weber's goal in the 26th minute tied the match before the Lions fell 2-1 to Thunder Bay on a goal in the 30th minute.

The Dutch Lions dropped a 2-0 match at the Dayton Dutch Lions before closing the weekend with a 3-1 win over Flint City Bucks. In Cincinnati's 2-0 loss to Dayton, Stafford-Lacey played 60 minutes and recorded a shot.
Zac Blaydes, CIncinnati Dutch Lions (USL League 2): After suffering a season-ending knee injury in just his second game of 2019, Zac Blaydes is in CInncinati for the summer, competing for the Dutch Lions.
