Full MVC Release

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - In a preseason release, University of Evansville men's soccer senior Jesse Stafford-Lacey has been named preseason all-Missouri Valley Conference, it was announced in a release by the conference office on Thursday.

The honor is the first preseason award for Stafford-Lacey, but the Kerry, Ireland native is no stranger to other MVC awards. Stafford-Lacey was named second-team all-conference after the 2018 season after tying for the team lead with three goals. In 2017, Stafford-Lacey was named honorable mention all-MVC after playing in 20 matches and scoring once, while adding three assists. Stafford-Lacey has also been recognized for his efforts in the classroom, being named to the MVC honor roll three times and twice earning the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award.

In the 2019 preseason poll, the Aces were picked fifth, garnering 12 points in the poll. Missouri State was selected as the favorite to win the MVC title, picking up four first-place votes and 32 points. Just behind the Bears was Loyola with 31 points and one first-place vote and Drake in third with 22 points and one first-place vote.

Evansville continues its preseason on Friday evening with a matchup with Northwestern at 6 p.m. at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
