Last Match: Evansville 1, UNC Asheville 0
  • Evansville opened its attack early and often in the first half as the Aces out-shot the Bulldogs, 9-3, in the opening 45 minutes.
  • The first opportunity came nine minutes in as sophomore Leo Barba had his shot saved. Minutes later, the ball found itself in front of freshman Ethan Garvey in the box, but Garvey's shot slipped wide.
  • The breakthrough for the Aces came in the 38th minute as sophomore Ryan Harris buried a ball into the back of the net off assists from senior Jesse Stafford-Lacey and freshman Nkosi Graham.
  • To open the second half, Evansville withstood a pair of opportunities from the Bulldogs as Izaiah Vignali had two shots blocked by the Aces.
  • Evansville responded with a shot from redshirt sophomore Davis Peck that was saved by UNC Asheville.
  • The Aces owned much of the second stanza, out-shooting the Bulldogs again, this time by a 7-4 margin.
  • Much of the UNC Asheville threat was contained by the Aces outside of the 18 as senior goalkeeper Frederik Reimer was not tasked with making a save in the match as the Aces captured the 1-0 victory.
  • In the match, Evansville out-shot the Bulldogs, 16-7, and held a 7-1 advantage on corner kicks.
Previewing the Matchup
  • Evansville and Loyola are meeting for the 24th time with the Aces owning a 19-3-1 advantage in the series.
  • The last matchup at McCutchan Stadiun came on Oct. 14, 2017 when Loyola earned a 3-0 win.
  • The Aces have won two of the last three meetings, including back-to-back wins in 2017 by 1-0 scores.
  • Four-straight matches in the series included one team earning a shutout.
  • Evansville is searching for its first win over Loyola at home since a 2-1 victory over the Ramblers on Nov. 11, 2014.
  • Wednesday marks the first day of the MVC season as Loyola and Evansville are one of two conference matches on the day. The other features Valparaiso on the road at Missouri State.
  • Loyola enters Wednesday's contest with a 3-2 record.  The Ramblers opened the season with wins over Vermont and NIU in the Loyola Chicago Classic. Going on the road to California, Loyola dropped back-to-back matches against Cal State Fullerton and Loyola Marymount. Most recently, Loyola earned a 4-2 win in a rivalry matchup with DePaul.
  • Three different Ramblers have scored two goals to lead Loyola with Justin Sukow owning an advantage with six points.
  • 17 letterwinners return from Loyola's squad from a season ago that saw its season end in the championship game of the MVC Championship.
  • The one position the Ramblers have had to replace is between the posts where graduate student Marcel Kampman has started all five matches for Loyola this season, holding a 1.20 goals-against average and making 13 saves.
