Last Match: Loyola 2, Evansville 1
  • Evansville held off the Ramblers in the early going after Loyola recorded two shots inside the first 15 minutes and controlled much of the possession.
  • The match evened out midway through the opening 45 minutes before the Ramblers got on the board first in the 36th minute as Liam Moore finished a corner kick off the foot of Marius Kullman for Loyola's first goal.
  • As the half waned, Evansville knotted the match at one goal each as sophomore Ryan Harris and freshman Nkosi Graham linked up for an Aces goal in the 40th minute.
  • Despite Loyola owning a 6-1 advantage on shots in the first half, Evansville played evenly on the attack with the Ramblers in the second half.
  • Graham nearly put the Aces ahead in the 48th minute as he brough down a ball in the box, but had his shot saved by Ramblers' keeper Marcel Kampman.
  • Loyola found what would be its game-winning goal in the 56th minute as Justin Sukow ripped a shot from inside the box that put the Ramblers in front.
  • Evansville had its opportunities in the final 35 minutes, but the Aces could not find their equalizer as Loyola earned the 2-1 win.

Previewing the Matchup
  • Evansville and Valparaiso are meeting for the eighth time with the Aces owning a 3-2-2 advantage in the series.
  • The last matchup in the series saw the two sides battle for a double-overtime 1-1 draw at Arad McCutchan Stadium on Oct. 27, 2018.
  • The Aces dropped their last trip to the Region when Evansville fell, 2-1, to Valpo on Oct. 7, 2017.
  • The last win for Evansville in the series came in 2008 when the Aces captured a 3-1 victory over Valpo on Sept. 14 in the Aces Soccer Classic at McCutchan Stadium.
  • Evansville has not had much luck on the road in the series as UE is searching for its first win at Valpo in series history.
  • Valparaiso opened MVC play on Wednesday, falling 3-1 on the road at Missouri State.
  • Last season, Valpo advanced to the semifinals of the MVC Championship, amassing a 5-8-4 overall record and a 2-1-3 mark in the MVC.
  • Valpo's top two goal-scorers from last year are gone as Lucca Lacerda and Rafael Mentzingen scored six combined goals to lead Valpo.
  • After his college career ended, Mentzingen was drafted with the 90th overall pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft by the Columbus Crew.
  • Mason Marcey and Cole Rainwater have helped fill the void left by Lacerda and Mentzingen, each scoring three goals to lead Valpo this season.
  • Valpo is in the midst of a four-game losing streak by a combined score of 16-3 with all four matches coming on the road.
  • Three different goalkeepers have played for Valpo with Edvin Holst seeing the most time in goal, amassing a 2.56 goals-against average.
