Rucinski, Lowry Set the Pace at John Gartland Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, In. –
The University of Evansville men's and women's track and field teams had another impressive showing this weekend at the John Gatland Invitational hosted at conference foe Indiana State.

As a team the men finished the meet in third place with 42 points, while the women finished in fifth with 19.

Highlighting the evening was Anna Lowry, who set a new program record in the 5,000-meter run and took down the top spot in the event at 17:30.12.

Joey Rucinski posted a school record in points collected in the men's heptathlon, with 3,665 points, earning first place in the two day event. Also competing in the heptathlon, Justus Danaldson earned 3,391 points finishing in second.

Haylee Harmeyer bested her own school record by two seconds by finishing the 400-meter dash in 1:01.96, earning seventh place. Skylar Tucker (1:01.96) and Sienna Kelley (1:04.12) finished eighth and ninth respectively in this event.

Taiza Alexander qualified for the 60-meter dash finals with a school record 8.06 in prelims, following that up with a sixth place 8.11 finish.

Baylee Geng broke the school record in shot put with a 9.48-meter throw to finish in 11th place.

The Purple Aces are back in action in two weeks as they travel to compete at the Marshall Invitational Feb. 7-8.
