TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The University of Evansville track & field team completed the MVC Outdoor Championships on Sunday, highlighted by Taylor Johnson (Evansville, Ind./Reitz) breaking the women's 400 meter hurdles record for the second day in a row with a time of 1:00.86 to place second.
Women
For the second consecutive day, Johnson reset her own program record in the 400 meter hurdles, coming on late in the finals to place second with a time of 1:00.86.
In the 5000 meters,
Chase Hayes (Noblesville, Ind./Western) placed 13
th with a time of 17:57.34, while Avery Stephens (Newburgh, Ind./Castle) took a 15
th place finish at a time of 18:07.49.
In Sunday's field events, Emma Bertel (Franklin, Ind./Franklin Community) placed 14
th in the shot put with a mark of 10.93 meters and 19
th in the discus at 35.18 meters. Lilyana Gargano (Hudson, Fla./Vivay) took 14
th in the high jump at 1.50 meters, while Tristen Thomas (York, Pa./West York) took 16
th in the triple jump at 10.80 meters.
Men
After qualifying for the 1500 meters finals yesterday, Rafael Rodriguez (Segovia, Spain/Colegio Claret) took fifth place in Sunday's finals with a time of 3:50.94.
Brody Riggs (Fort Branch, Ind./Gibson Southern) qualified for the finals of 110 meter hurdles yesterday and took sixth place in Sunday's finals with a time of 14.63 to match a personal best.
In the 5000 meters, Nathan Campbell (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington North) placed 20
th with a time of 15:53.81.
In the shot put, Drew Aaron (Mount Vernon, Ind./Mt. Vernon), took 16
th with a mark of 12.37 meters. In the discus, Cole Johnson (Salem, Ill./Salem Community) placed 12
th with a personal best of 46.15 meters, while Tyler Cherne (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) placed 13
th and also recorded a personal best at 45.55 meters.
