Aces Complete Day One of MVC Outdoor Championships

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The University of Evansville track & field team completed day one of the MVC Outdoor Championships on Saturday, highlighted by Taylor Johnson (Evansville, Ind./Reitz) breaking the women's 400 meter hurdles record with a time of 1:01.43.

Women 
In the 400 meter hurdles, Johnson broke her own program record and qualified for tomorrow's finals with a time of 1:01.43, finishing sixth in the prelims. Tristen Thomas (York, Pa./West York) came in 16th in the prelims, clocking a personal best at 1:08.36. Johnson also competed in the 400 meters, placing ninth at 55.93.
 
In the 1500 meters, Chase Hayes (Noblesville, Ind./Western) placed 13th with a time of 4:41.22. Kyleigh Wolf (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) placed 15th in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:13.49, while Avery Stephens (Newburgh, Ind./Castle) wrapped up the distance events with an 11th place finish in the 10000 meters at a time of 37:24.53.
 
In Saturday's field events, Gwen Darrah (Cleveland, Ohio/Orange) placed 16th in the hammer throw with a mark of 45.07 meters and Holland Morris (Florence, Ky./Randall K. Cooper) placed ninth in the javelin with a mark of 35.01 meters.

Men
Josiah Hoehn (Hazel Crest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) led three Aces in the 100 meters, placing 15th with a time of 10.82, while Connor Shin (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington North) placed 19th at 11.21. Shin also competed in the 200 meters, placing 18th with a time of 22.31.
 
Brody Riggs (Fort Branch, Ind./Gibson Southern) had a strong showing in the 100 meter hurdles, qualifying for tomorrow's finals with a personal best time of 14.63, placing sixth. Hoehn placed 10th with a personal best of 14.96, while Tristin DeTalente (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) also notched a personal best at 15.73 for a 12th place finish. DeTalente and Riggs competed in the 400 meter hurdles, with DeTalente finishing 15th at 59.17 and Riggs placing 16th at 59.47.
 
Hoehn and Shin also competed in the 200 meters, with Hoehn placing 16th at 21.56 and Shin taking 20th at 22.06.
 
In the 400 meters, Myles Terry (Evansville, Ind./North) took 14th at 51.00 and Kadin McAllister (Lilburn, Ga./Parkview) took 16th at 51.62.
 
In the 400 meters, Kadin McAllister (Lilburn, Ga./Parkview) placed 12th with a time of 50.88.
 
Jake Antibus (Switz City, Ind./White River Valley) was the lone participant in the 800 meters for Evansville, taking 14th with a time of 1:58.26.
 
Rafael Rodriguez (Segovia, Spain/Colegio Claret) qualified for tomorrow's finals in the 1500 meters, placing 11th with a time of 3:51.08.
 
In the 10000 meters, Nathan Whitehead (Vincennes, Ind./South Knox) placed 13th at 31:54.17 for a personal best and Tanner Spence (Carmi, Ill./Carmi) placed 18th at 32:54.77 for a personal best.
 
In the hammer throw, Tyler Cherne (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) placed 14th with a mark of 48.14 meters, while Beau Baldwin (Mount Vernon, Ind./Mt. Vernon) took 17th at 41.87 meters. In the javelin, Cole Johnson (Salem, Ill./Salem Community) had a strong showing to place 6th with a personal best of 49.01 meters.
